Bobcat of the Week and Smashburger winners for Weeks 8-10
Week 10 - November 7, 2009

8's (Anthony Montoya) - "Anthony played great all season.  In our game vs. Broomfield, Anthony stepped up time and time again to prevent big runs around his side.  On a sweep play coming to his side, Anthony stepped up and forced the run back to the inside from his CB position.  He then crashed down and leveled the kid.  The RB was lucky he didn't fumble.   The ball started to come loose, but rolled back into his arms.  Great play, great game and great season Anthony!  Way to go!" -- Coach Guildner

9's () -  "" -- Coach Shea

10's (Eric Gambon) - "This week we as coaches decided hands down that Eric Gambon earned our smash burger hit of the week.  We were in a dog fight with Broomfield White at half time, up on them only 6-0.  Then late in the 3rd we started a drive from our own 15 yard line.  On this drive Eric came through the 4 hole as a lead blocker for our running back and absolutely BLEW UP the outside linebacker that was waiting for him in the hole.  This block single-handedly sprung our running back for 6 points.  This hit and drive sparked the whole team and lead us to a 25-6 victory over Broomfield!" -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Cevin Perez)- "Cevin has really picked it up this year and we are looking forward to more next year. During our game with Superior Red, Cevin ran down the field on a kickoff play, stayed in his lane, and obliterated the ball carrier. An astounding Smash Cevin!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (Matthew Maierhofer) - "Matthew came up big in the last game of the year.  He played hard and was determined to stop the run and came up with two tackles at the nose guard position.  Being a first year player Matthew continued to improve everyday and never go down.  It was great to have you in the Bobcat family this year. " -- Coach Platt

Week 9 - October 31, 2009

8's and 9's - Bye Week

10's (Joey Spindle) - "One play stands out in my mind from the Superior Blue game. The quarterback was running to the right side of the field, we had a defender go low to wrap his ankles, the quarterback tried to jump over, and SMASH there was Joey Spindle lighting him up. Incredible job of filling the hole Joey!" -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Paul Zidek)- "Paul Zidek is a player who is committed to bringing his best game.  Against a Brighton team Paul made a hit on a Brighton player that sent shivers down the spines of all the coaches.  Great job on smashing the opposing team.  Keep up your great work ethic." -- Coach Sutak

12's (Cameron Turner) - "Cameron is the ultimate lineman.  His improvement over the year has been impressive on both side of the line.  Against Brighton Cameron was hitting their defensive lineman every play and never took a down off.  Cameron is a beast in the trenches and is driven to get better.  Great job Cameron!  " -- Coach Platt

Week 8 - October 24, 2009

8's (Michael Doolittle) - "Michael stepped up and delivered some huge hits, especially in the 1st quarter.  He ran the ball hard and broke tackles helping us take the opening drive down the field for a TD.  His improvement as a running back this year gave us a tough, between the tackles, type of ball carrier.  Thanks for your hard work Michael." -- Coach Guildner

9's () -  "" -- Coach Shea

10's (Nick Hoff) - "#77 came alive battling and smashing the defensive end in our game against Brighton white.  Nick blocked till the whistle blew every play.  Great Job." -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Zach Davis)- "Zach has developed into our best open field tackler. During the Game Brighton would try to run to his side and Zach came up big every time. Keep Smashing and Wrapping!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (Michael Carrannante) - "Michael made two huge plays this weekend at his cornerback position to preserve the win against the Louisville Pirates.  On two plays the Pirate running back got outside and was one on one with MC and both times MC brought him down.  Thus forcing them to go for it on 4th and long which they didn't convert and Bobcats clinched the win.  MC plays the game with heart and determination and never backs down from anyone running his way.  MC listens to what coaches have to say and they goes out and does it.  Great season MC." -- Coach Platt

Week 7 - October 22, 2009

(From L-R):

8's (Ryan Herrera) - "Ryan set the tempo early on Saturday against Commerce City.  He made 2 out of the first 3 tackles and hit the Raider RB's hard.  He helped fire up our team early on Saturday and it led to a big win over one of the Bobcat's longest rivals!  Nice Job Ryan!  Keep it up." -- Coach Guildner

9's (Gregory Smith) -  "While playing cornerback In the game Saturday Gregory stepped-up and made several big hits, while helping to contain the outside. Gregory is new to the corner position this year and his eagerness to learn and step up and make the big hits has made him become a key asset to the team. Way to go Gregory, keep up the good work!!" -- Coach Shea

10's (Nick Dewing) - "#80 played exceptionally well on both sides of the football. Not only containing superbly but smashing the power run to pieces. Broomfield didn't have a chance running to Nicks side and they stopped trying. On offense Nick continued to smash through the line of scrimmage by carrying the defense with him for extra yardage. The great running&containment led to his great game." -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Tevin Borrego)- "Tevin, who we can always count on to bring it on game day , showed once again why he is a dominant player. Tevin ran down the field on a kickoff, made a b-line to the ball carrier and knocked him off his feet using only his arm! It was close to being a closeline but the TANK actually hit the guy in the chest. This left nothing but feet in the air and a thud echoing across the field. Awesome Job Tank!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (David Molina) - "David comes to play everyday and loves to hit.  He opens up holes so big on the offensive line a truck can run through it.  On defense David fired through the line this weekend and smothered the Running back in the back field.  He is huge asset to the team with his ability to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  Continue to dominate in the playoffs David!!!" -- Coach Platt

Week 6 - October 15, 2009

(From L-R):
12's (Justin Angevine) - "Justin came up huge this weekend recording 8 tackles and played disciplined football at his outside linebacker position.  He was instrumental in holding the Louisville Pirates to only 1 first down the entire game.  Justin has worked very hard to come back from a knee injury and does everything the coaches ask of him.  It’s great to have Justin in the Bobcat family this year. " -- Coach Platt

11's (Joey Spindle)- "From his safety position, Joey stepped up and filled the hole knocking the ball carrier off his feet. The hardest hit of the day came from Little Joey who is not afraid to mix it up with anybody. Keep Filling Joey!!" -- Coach Sutak

10's (Kasheva Berg) -  "# 26 played tough  against  our opponents in last week's game, fighting through  trap blocks and doubleteam blocks.  Berg managed to Smash  and sack the quarterback for a 10 yard loss.  Great  work ethic and what a great sack !  Keep it up!" -- Coach Sadoff

9's (Mac "The Big Dog Post) - "Mac had several bone crushing hits in our game Saturday while playing middle linebacker. So many in fact that Hyland Hills ran scared to the outside trying to escape the monstrosity we call our middle linebacker." -- Coach Shea

8's (Buck Coors) - "In the 2nd Quarter of our game against Brighton, Buck blitzed the A Gap and crushed the QB while he was handing the ball off.  When the RB got the ball, Buck stood him up and grabbed the ball out of his hands.  Buck then sprinted 35 yards to the End Zone to give us a 6-0 lead.  It was our best defensive play of the season so far!  Great Job Buck!!!!" -- Coach Guildner

Week 5 - October 8, 2009

(From L-R):

12's (Austin Vojta) - "Austin had an outstanding game Saturday coming out in the first quarter with a big hit behind the line of scrimmage to set the tone for the game.  Austin had 4 tackles in the first quarter from his Defensive End position which ultimately shut down the run game.  Austin has worked very hard and has put together two outstanding games.  Keep it up Austin!!!" -- Coach Platt

11's (Griffin Henry) - "In last week's game vs. Commerce City Griffin chased down the quarterback who was flushed out of the pocket , hit him and caused him to fumble on a crucial 3rd down play in the 4th quarter. Keep Rumblin Griff!!!" -- Coach Sutak

10's (Issac Alldama) -  "# 22 was one of the main reasons holes were opening up last Saturday.  Aldama's relentless smash-mouth blocks allowed the running backs through the line with ease in a battle for every yard - great job."
-- Coach Sadoff

9's - (Talon Hickey)

8's (Kalee Beauford) - "Kaylee is a great player.  He has worked himself into a starting Defensive Tackle role.  Kalee is big, strong, and fast.  In Saturday's game, Kalee smashed Boulder's running backs several times.  He plays Right Guard on Offense, and consistently drives his defender down the field.  Keep it up Kalee!!!" -- Coach Guildner

Week 4 - October 1, 2009

(From L-R):
8's (Bryce Desjardins) - "Bryce is one of the hardest hitting 8 yr olds I've ever seen.  He is extremely fast and in Saturday's game he came flying in from his Safety position and completely de-cleeted a running back trying to get the edge.  It was a textbook Steve Atwater type hit.  Keep hitting hard Bryce!!"
-- Coach Guildner

9's (Jose-Luis Perez) - "Perez was a one man wrecking crew coming out of the backfield for us on offense Saturday. Laying not just one person out, but every person that crossed his face. Leading our backs to 7 touchdowns!!! way to go Perez!" -- Coach Shea

10's (Lucas DiSabato) - "In our game against the Northglenn Rams, Lucas was placed on the defensive line of scrimmage.  He then proceeded to rip through the gap in front of him, then hustle down the line of scrimmage, and blindside the running back.  Good job!" -- Coach Waneka

11's ('Sugar' Shane Wetzel) - "Shane stepped up big time in our game against Broomfield. One play in particular Shane filled the hole from his Linebacker position stuffed the run and sent the running back out of the game. Keep Smashin!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (Mike "Monk" Devries) - "Monk was a freight train knocking numerous potential tacklers on their butts leading our Running Back to the end zone.  One play Monk lifted the linebacker off of his feet and back 3 yards knocking over the safety.  He was a beast on defense constantly playing in the backfield.  The Bulldog running was heard saying "Oh No!!!" when he was handed the ball and was immediately hit for a loss by the "Big Monkey".  Way to kick some Bulldog butt. " -- Coach Platt

Week 3 - September 25, 2009

(From L-R):

12's (Keaton Whitehead) - "Keaton laid the hit of the game on the goal line when the running back came through the line thinking there was a hole and out of nowhere Keaton laid the wood from his Linebacker position.  Keaton  was involved in 7 tackles during the game and is really flying to the ball.   Way to lay the wood Keaton!!!" -- Coach Platt

11's (Zach "Doink" Stephenson - not pictured)

10's (Christian Varga) -
"#25 came in at middle linebacker fearless and scrapped as hard as he could laying hits on everyone that came his way.  Great effort." -- Coach Sadoff

9's (Shiloh Galvan) - "Shiloh proves that it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but instead the size of the fight in the dog. In the 4th quarter of our game Saturday Shiloh busted through the offensive line, chased down the quarterback and sacked him for a loss. Helping to secure our win against Boulder, way to go Shiloh keep it up." -- Coach Shea

8's (Quinn Rubin) - "Quinn has developed into an outstanding Inside LB.  He is extremely quick to the ball and delivers a hard hit when he gets to the back.  On Saturday's game, Quinn busted through the line on a blitz and SMASHED the QB for a 6 yrd loss..  He also registered at least 6 tackles/assists including another sack." -- Coach Guildner

Week 2 - September 17, 2009

(From L-R):

8's (Nathan Urbies) - "Nathan, our defensive end, had a classic hit on the QB on Sunday.  Joey Hoff gets honorable mention on this one for setting it up.  Joey stepped up and forced the sweeping QB back inside, where Nathan was there to meet him.  I think the kid is still waking up screaming, "Not #54 again!"  Nathan also pulls on a number of offensive plays and registered at least 3 pancakes on Saturday." -- Coach Guildner

9's (Case Ollila) - "During a game of Buff Ball last week, Case flew across the field and de-cleated the ball carrier, arguably one of the best hits all season.  Keep it up Case." -- Coach Shea

10's (Kaleb Sadoff-Tierney) - "Focus and determination led to a game-changing play when #7 lowered his shoulder smashing the running back and causing him to fumble the football into the air, allowing our safety to recover and take it to the house for six!!  Hey Kaleb, great play, great job." -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Diego Southard) - "Whether in practice or games, Diego is flying around 100 miles an hour and wrecking people.  This is a culmination award based on his intensity, desire, and determination to let everyone know that when he is on the field you better be ready to get hit.  Keep it up Diego!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (Joseph Kumar) - "The 12 year old Smashburger hit of the Week goes to Joseph Kumar!!!  JK made an outstanding catch down the middle of the field taking a huge hit from the safety and still held on to the ball.  While it looked like JK got the worst of the collision; he popped up and hustled back to the huddle while the the Hyland Hills player stayed down, eventually getting up and heading to the sideline not to return in the 2nd half.  This play was the catalyst to the Bobcats outscoring the Bulldogs 30 to 6 the last 3 quarters to get the win.  Great job JK." -- Coach Platt

Week 1 - September 3, 2009

(From L-R):

8's (Caleb Guildner) - "Caleb had a huge play late in the 4th quarter.  The QB came around his edge, from his DE position, Caleb forced the quarterback to go backward while fighting off the block from the running back.  He then SMASHED the quarterback for a 10-yard loss!!  AWESOME!" -- Coach Guildner

9's (Talon Hickey) - "While playing defensive tackle, Talon burst through the line and punished the ball carrier, putting him on his back and causing him to fumble the football.  To make the situation even that much better, Talon also recovered the fumble.  Way to go Talon and keep up the great work." -- Coach Shea

10's (Gerald Romero, aka "The Zohan") - "During our scrimmage in Longmont, Romero took a 2-5 lead, and then proceeded to run over a defensive end, pancake a linebacker, and crush a safety.  Romero then carried the rest of the opposing team for another 5 yards before he was finally wrestled down to the ground." -- Coach Sadoff

11's (Raven "Butter" Chacon) - "During a kickoff Raven sprinted down the field and laid out the return man.  We think the young man he destroyed will be seeing stars for quite some time.  Keep it up Raven!" -- Coach Sutak

12's (Ben Platt) - "20 Tackles (8 solo), and 2 pancakes.  Congratulations Ben Platt." -- Coach Platt
